What We Do

Hunger Relief

Food Sovereignty Program

Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center is proud to introduce a new program to further our mission of addressing food insecurity. In 2021 we donated over 14,000 lbs of food to local food pantries like Feeding Westchester, but we recognize that more help is needed. Over 75,000 people in Westchester County do not have access to reliable food systems this past year. We are piloting our Food Sovereignty CSA Program in an effort to provide people in need with access to local healthy organically grown vegetables!

What are Food Sovereignty Shares?

Each share is a CSA Membership with a $100 credit that can be used for any item sold in our farm stand or online store.

Anyone in need is free to apply to be a recipient of the program. We will begin accepting applications starting May 16th. Shares are limited and can be applied for until all have been given out.

As CSA members, Food Sovereignty recipients will have access to members-only discounts, specials & exclusive freebies in the Farm Stand all season long!  Read more about our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, how it works and the benefits of membership here

Food Sovereignty shares, including CSA benefits are active for the duration of the main growing season, which is from June 1 - November, 2022.

Food & Nutrition Services

In efforts to make fresh, nutritious food more accessible our farm stand accepts:

  • WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program checks
  • WIC Fruits & Vegetables checks
  • Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program check

Our application for accepting New York State SNAP/EBT benefit cards as another choice of payment for customers is currently under review for approval; we hope to complete this process sometime during the current 2022 season & accommodate those who may choose this option. Thank you for your patience & continued support!

Gleaning Events

The idea is SIMPLE. We not only plant our fields each year knowing that we intend to donate part of what we grow, but we work hard to gather volunteers the extra in the fields to feed those in need.

Sign up as a volunteer to glean as a group and directly donate to those in need.

Food Donation Program

Hilltop Hanover's Food Donation Program partners with local food pantries and other emergency food programs to provide fresh, nutritious, locally grown food available to families and individuals in need. The farm serves at least 10 community partners throughout Westchester & Putnam counties, including food pantries, food banks and community centers. In line with our mission statement, a minimum 10% of produce grown is donated. However, we are excited to say it is often much more! In 2021, Hilltop Hanover Farm donated over 14,000 pounds of produce!

If there is an organization you'd like us to donate to, please contact our Food Donation Coordinator.
