Learn Native Seed Propagation!
Two sessions available: 9:30am - 11:30am or 1pm - 3pm

In this hands on demonstration class, join Emily Rauch to learn how to stratify and propagate native seeds. During the workshop you will discuss terminology and learn about different methods to use, as well as how to achieve transplanting success.

Everyone will leave with seed stratifying material (including local-ecotype seeds), a full tray of planted seeds and some seedling starts. The workshop will focus on species that are deer-tolerant, useful in gardens, and attractive to pollinators.

Come prepared to get your hands dirty- we will be propagating seeds of several species of native plants!

Emily Rauch is our Native Plant Nursery manager with over 15 years of experience including the Connecticut Master Gardener program. She holds a certificate in Plant Production and Greenhouse Management from the New York Botanical Garden horticulture program and her past projects with native plants include Scalzi Riverwalk nature preserve, The Pound Ridge Land Conservancy plant nursery and The Invasives Project of Pound Ridge. At both Scalzi Riverwalk and Pound Ridge Land Conservancy she worked on restoring local nature preserves by removing invasive species and growing native plant material as replacements.
