Wild Seed Collection Workshop
Join Lindsey Feinberg, our seed collection specialist, in this hands on workshop!
You will learn to sustainably collect seeds from native plants without harming wild populations. We will cover techniques researched by scientists and implemented by the Bureau of Land Management’s National Seed Strategy.
The first section will go over how wild seed is used for banking and restoration. The rest of the class will be spent in the field. We will review how to use field guides to properly identify species, examine plant populations and determine whether they are suitable for collection. We will learn how to check seed for ripeness, take a herbarium specimen, and fill out a data sheet to record important information for future collections. Great for ages 10 and up.
Ages 10 - 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult
