Seed Cleaning Workshop
Join the Native Plant Program Staff and learn how to clean and process native seeds for propagation and storage.
We will briefly go over the importance of ecotypic seeds along with basic seed morphology and key biological traits that enhance a seed’s survival. Using a few simple techniques, you will learn how to clean different types of seeds by threshing, smashing, rubbing, tapping, blending, and winnowing. Then we’ll put your new skills to the test by diving into cleaning some of this year’s harvest, and finally, we will run a few batches through our new seed cleaning machine!
