We will briefly go over the importance of ecotypic seeds along with basic seed morphology and key biological traits that enhance a seed’s survival. Using a few simple techniques, you will learn how to clean different types of seeds by threshing, smashing, rubbing, tapping, blending, and winnowing. Then we’ll put your new skills to the test by diving into cleaning some of this year’s harvest, and finally, we will run a few batches through our new seed cleaning machine!
This class is designed for ages 12 and up, but we defer to your discretion about the maturity level and interest of your child. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
