Homeschool at the Farm: Spring Setup!

Help us install our new Education Garden! Hilltop's Education Garden, once a vibrant "Farm at Home Garden", has lain empty since before the pandemic. Now, with grant-funded support, we are revitalizing this beautiful and accessible growing space, and dedicating it in entirety to the Education programming. School kids of all ages, volunteers, summer programs, and everyone who wants to explore this space will have access to the veggies, produce, herbs and native plants growing here, and we're getting the ball rolling for the season with this Community Work Day. We will install raised beds, move compost and soil, and more, learning the processes together.

Hilltop's homeschool-specific programs will introduce students to the lively processes at work on our organic farm. Through hands-on field work, meeting animals and plants in the fields and greenhouses, and a visit to the historic farm buildings, we’ll get up close and personal with the cycles of growing and food production, learn about history, and put our energy to work in the soil, all through the lens of sustainability and stewardship. Our programs are designed to supplement science and environmental education standards, and students will discover these concepts for themselves as we explore life and agriculture at Hilltop Hanover.
