Women's Winter Pruning Workshop

Saturday, January 27, 2024
10:00 am12:00 pm
Hilltop Hanover Farm, 1271 Hanover Street, Yorktown Heights, NY

This workshop is specifically crafted for women-identifying, non-binary, genderqueer, and questioning individuals.

Hilltop's Native Plant Crew Member, Kathryn Natale (she/her), will be teaching this brand-new, hands-on workshop focused on the basics of pruning trees and shrubs for plant health, aesthetics, and function.

Kathryn, with her background as an ISA Certified Arborist, recognizes that “a pruning workshop” may give pause to individuals envisioning a mostly male setting with landscapers and loggers. She's looking forward to making a safe space where everyone can freely ask any questions they might have felt a bit shy about in other situations.

We'll start indoors with a discussion of basic tree biology, pruning techniques, and common pruning pitfalls, then venture outside to put these concepts into practice.

This class is best suited for ages 16 and up, but we defer to your discretion about the maturity level and interest of your child. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Free admission. Registration required.
Registration closes on Friday, 1/26/24 at noon.
Rain/Snow date is Saturday, February 17, 2024. A decision will be made by Friday at noon.
