Community Work Day

Saturday, March 18, 2023
9:00 am12:00 pm
1271 Hanover St, Yorktown Heights, NY

This Community Work Day will focus on Spring Maintenance within the Trees for Tribs area. The day will involve removing and clearing out the protective tree tubes, light pruning and weed removal. Specific instructions and all supplies will be given at the start of the activity. Intensity will be light-moderate: volunteers must be able to lift a lightweight tube above shoulder height, and use a rubber mallet/hammer.

From the DEC:
Trees for Tribs is a statewide program that has been working to reforest and support plantings along tributaries (“tribs”), small creeks and streams that flow into larger rivers and lakes. The goal is to create or improve riparian (streamside) buffers that decrease erosion, reduce flooding damage, improve wildlife and stream habitat, and protect water quality, creating healthier, more climate-resilient communities.

All ages and abilities are welcome. Stay for as long or as little as you would like!

Registration is not required, but it is helpful to know to expect you.
