Who We Are
Hilltop Hanover Farm & Environmental Center is dedicated to the practices of sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, community education, and the creation of access to healthy food systems. Hilltop is a 60-acre working farm and educational center operated by Westchester County Parks, Recreation, and Conservation that uses organic practices to grow produce, flowers, and seeds for a market-style CSA, on-site farm stand, and native plant nursery. The farm offers educational programming throughout the year and the property is open to the public, free of charge, year round.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain a landscaping plan, including mowing, weed whacking, brush clearing, and general upkeep.
- Perform janitorial duties across all farm facilities, such as vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning surfaces.
- Operate farm tools and machinery, including weed whackers, mowers, hedge trimmers, saws, and hand tools.
- Provide support with minor carpentry and vehicle repair tasks as needed.
- Work closely with management to address any issues on the farm, ensuring a positive and safe work environment for all team members.
- Assist other departments as needed and help maintain the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the property.
- Assist with farm operations, including harvesting 1-2 times per week and seed cleaning.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability and enthusiasm to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 40 lbs and performing repetitive movements).
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with attention to detail and flexibility.
- Basic carpentry and small engine repair skills are preferred.
- Passion for sustainable farming and a willingness to contribute to the farm’s mission.
- Valid Driver's License
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Background check required
Hours and Compensation
- Pay starts at $17.50/hr. dependent on experience
- Access to free farm produce during the growing season
- 30% off all products sold in the Farm Stand

- Option to participate in NY State Retirement System Comment and 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan through Empower
- 1 hour of sick time accrued per 30 hrs worked
- Work is typically scheduled from M - F, 7:30am - 3:00pm.
