Native Seed Collecting
Choose from 3 sessions: 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, or 4pm-6pm.
Rain date October 8th.
Join Hilltop Hanover Farm in harvesting seeds from our native plant plots and learn about our living seed bank and native plant conservation nursery.
Attend this two hour participatory program to learn about "local ecotypes", tour our seed plots, and help us collect seeds from three local provenance native plant species. Hilltop's native plant intern, Emily Rauch, will explain how our farm-based native plant nursery is a full circle biodiversity initiative designed to protect existing natural habitats and conserve native flora specifically adapted to our ecoregion. Following the seed harvest, join a discussion about using native plants in the local landscape while enjoying a cool herbal drink and snack.
Space is limited to eight participants per session. Program will be held outside observing social distancing guidelines. *Masks must be worn at all times while at the farm.
$30 registration fee covers class, seeds to take home, drink and snack. Native plants for sale following the program.
This event is part of an internship program generously funded by Bedford Garden Club and Rusticus Garden Club.
